The Deacon Community Of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe
Ego Vobiscum sum, sicut qui ministrat
From the Desk of the Director
Welcome to the website dedicated to the deacons of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, who, strengthened by the sacramental grace, in communion with the bishop and his priests, serve the People of God in the ministry of the liturgy, of the Word, and of Charity (Lumen Gentium #29). Deacons today administer baptism solemnly, assist at and bless marriages in the name of the Church, bring viaticum to the dying, read the Sacred Scriptures to the faithful, administer sacramentals and officiate at funeral and burial services. Since 1967, the permanent diaconate in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe has grown significantly to more than 180 deacons serving in parishes and missions throughout the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in New Mexico. Yet more deacons are still needed and if you are interested in becoming a permanent deacon and serving the People of God in New Mexico, please contact your parish priest or deacon who will assist you with the application process.
